The Way of Saint Francis is a unique way to discover the beauty of Central Italy. It is an itinerary linking some of the places that testify of the life and preaching of the Saint of Assisi.
Following the story of the “poor man of Assisi” we will slowly discover the beauty of this land, from Tuscany to Rome through La Verna, Gubbio, Assisi, Rieti and many other wonderful places that he crossed during his life. This is a wonderful journey in Italian History, unspoiled nature and wonderful landascapes.
The first leg of this itinerary will take you from the heart of Renaissance, Florence to the Casentino wood through La Verna, one of the mystic places connected to Saint’' Francis Life.
On the steps of Saint Francis
Accomodation: In a 3 or 4 star Hotel according to your needs and to the season; half board basis suggested

Florence – Pontassieve
Today you will start your journey to Sansepolcro. This first part of the trail is in Florence as far as Pontassieve. Total 22km, +425 m / -375 m.Arrival and accommodation in Hotel
Pontassieve – Consuma
After breakfast you will start your hike to the Apennines. First stop is Consuma Pass. Total 21km, +1217 m / -293 m
Consuma - Stia
After breakfast you will start your hike to Stia. Stia is a very nice little town on the mountains of the Casentino Forest and has a long tradition in the production of a typical cloths made of wool. Accommodation in Hotel. Total 16km, +285 m / -841 m
Stia - Badia Prataglia
After breakfast you will start your hike to Badia Prataglia, always in the beauty of this ageless forset. Arrival in your hotel in Badia Prataglia, a peaceful holyday destination, and relax to enjoy the silence of mountains. Total 21km, +1589 m / -1182 m
Badia Prataglia – La Verna
After breakfast departure to La Verna. La Verna preserves a very famous monatsery that was built where Saint Francis received his stigmatas. Accommodation in Hotel and time to visit the monastery and the friars pharmacy. 17 km, +1034m / -746 m
La Verna - Pieve Santo Stefano
After breakfast departure to Pieve Santo Stefano, situated at the beginning of the Tiber valley. Total 20km, +445 m / -855 m
Pieve Santo Stefano – Sansepolcro
Last leg of the itinerary will take you to Sansepolcro. Accommodation in hotel and time to relax 24km, +180 m / -840 m.
